Frank Ocean Album Release Concept
The second album, Blonde, by Frank Ocean was independently released by Boys Don’t Cry with much anticipation after a 4-year hiatus and paired with the release of Ocean’s visual project, Endless, only days prior.
Frank Ocean, a celebrated photographer, produced a Zine to accompany the album. In conjunction with Blonde’s international tour, an immersive traveling gallery experience was conceived. Vacant warehouses would be transformed into pop-up galleries in select tour cities featuring FO’s Zine photography and poetry, allowing fans to experience the artist’s creative genius in an intimate and unprecedented manner. Industrial materials, mirrored surfaces and projections were used in the ideation of the gallery.
Additionally, a mobile merch van was concepted for selling the album along the tour route. The van would also make festival appearances, such as SXSW and Coachella.
